The Space

BY SOUTH AFRICANS FOR SOUTH AFRICANS

The Space, with our collective heart, works hard to support local design. Know that it is not just a handful of local designers you’re supporting when you shop our ranges – but also the good people who work for them. And their families. The knock-on effect of buying local filters into communities around SA and helps to build the strong, beautiful, more equitable South Africa of tomorrow.

THRIVING ON THE LOVE OF LOCAL

In 2000, THE SPACE launched as a stand-alone Durban store with a simple quest: to partner with and showcase the work of like-minded, established designers, and to give a high-visibility platform to promising young designers wherever they came from; giving them a chance to break into the business and make a living out of their passion;
even better, to thrive.

South African consumers and some savvy celebs soon got behind us and we were able to GROW. Eight stores later – plus three SPACE MAN stores – we continue to open up more shop floor for local designers whose work belongs on the main stage. If you’re one such designer, call us for more info. Our limited space is always in demand.
