Wendy TlouAchieving organizational brand and marketing goals by conceptualizing, developing and implementing go-to-market impactful plans that resonate with consumers and stakeholders is what drives Tlou.

She is a seasoned marketing and communications specialist in the areas of communications strategy and implementation, marketing and branding, media relations and stakeholder relations. Her experience within this field has seen her head up the communications office of South African Tourism as the GM: Global Communications from June 2007 to July 2010 where she led the team that conceptualized, managed and delivered SA Tourism’s communications strategy and leveraged communications of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to benefit South Africa’s tourism ambitions.

Tlou started my career at South African Tourism in 2003 as Marketing and Communications Manager in Frankfurt, Germany and was later promoted to Marketing Communications Manager in London, UK.

She joined The Communications Firm in August 2011 as the Managing Director where her key focus areas were strategic client and stakeholder relations, integrated brand strategy development and new business development. During this time, she led the organization’s growth and people development strategies, firstly by winning major accounts totaling approximately R130m in revenue and secondly, by developing, in partnership with a talent management company, TCF’s values and culture project, aptly called The TCF Renewal Journey.
Tlou led the team at the South African Reserve Bank that launched the Nelson Mandela banknotes in 2012 and was the Head of the Communications & Brand Management Department for the City of Ekurhuleni.
In October 2013, she was headhunted to be the Chief Marketing Officer for Brand SA, a position she vacated in Feb 2015 to establish and found an Africa-focused digital content and e-commerce platform, www.chicafrican.com and to provide strategic reputation management and communication solutions on a freelance basis.
